"Wowzitude started with a problem. In 2020, my mom, Lucille Steiner, like many older adults, endured a lock down at her assisted living residence.
My brilliant Mom struggled with the anxiety of the pandemic's physical separation. Isolated from family and friends, she also dealt with the loss of in-person activities which connected her to her community. Like so many family members, I was concerned about Mom's social and emotional needs.
Mom and I share a lifelong love of travel, and we were inspired to create Wowzitude: a community-based live, virtual travel club, Zooming in guided tours, designed to encourage conversations, meet locals around the world, and explore or revisit destinations together.
The response was immediate - and positive. Weary after a torrent of bad news and divisive politics, families were delighted to have something positive to talk about with their loved ones. How exciting to experience community travel around the world, sightseeing and speaking with locals in real-time!
Sadly, Mom passed away in July 2020, recovering from COVID-19. She continues to be my inspiration and role model. Mom always believed that life's purpose involves connections - sharing new experiences, ideas and conversations with others. We hope your community enjoys continuing their global explorations with Wowzitude."
With much gratitude,
